The Facilities Services team manages a variety of projects across the College.
June 2025 Updates
Project Updates as of May 23, 2025
Description: Seminar Room 111 will be converted into an accessible graduate student lounge.
Status: This project in construction.
Impacts: There will be some construction activity and intermittent noise. Room 111 is off-line.
Description: We continue the phased renovation of Park Science that now includes renovations to the Collier Library and select areas of the Biology wing.
Status: The areas now under construction, including the Biology wing and the Collier Library, are now isolated. The Collier Library contractor work will be completed by June 30 and will be turned over to LITS to install technology. Overall construction will be completed by the fall semester 2025.
Impact: There will be some intermittent noise. We are working with those affected to manage the impacts. Any utility interruptions as noted above will be planned and communicated in advance with the affected groups. There will be a shut-down for a gas tie-in on Friday & Saturday June 6&7 that will effect the re-heat coils in the building so it may get chilly. The Biology stairwell facing the lower courtyard is closed for the summer. The south portion of the Chemistry wing, including the Collier Library, will not have ventilation between August 4 and August 22 when the HVAC work will be completed.
Description: Replace the current switch with a code compliant switch that will be more reliable and will minimize the impact of future maintenance and construction by allowing for the isolation of segments of the loop.
Status: The equipment has been ordered, site work required to receive and install the equipment will begin after reunion.
Impacts: The work will take place on both side of the path between Guild and Pembroke Hall East. There will be some construction noise and the path will close intermittently on some days.
Description: Install new fire alarm systems in Rockefeller Hall and Brecon Hall
Status: These projects are currently under construction
Impacts: Both Buildings will be off-line until August 14.
Description: Renovations to the Campus Center to include new finishes furniture and fixtures.
Status: We are in the process of awarding bids and on-site construction is likely to start before the end of June.
Impacts: Areas of the living room, TV room and mezzanine will be off-line once construction starts
Description: Renovations to the office area of Schwartz Gym to create new student lounge spaces.
Status: We are in the process of awarding bids and on-site construction is likely to start before the end of June.
Impacts: Room 114 will be impacted once construction starts.
Description: A new Computer Science research lab will be construction in rooms 259 and 260 which are currently an office and a lounge
Status: The project has been awarded and work will start in early June.
Impacts: Rooms 259 and 260 will be off-line and there will be some noise and construction activity in the vicinity of the project.
Description: The gym floor will be refinished.
Status: The project has been awarded and is scheduled for the week of June 2, 2025
Impacts: There will be smells during the refinishing process and the Schwartz Gym Building will be closed on June 3 and June 4. There is a possibility that the gym will remain closed for the balance of the week,
